Smile Designing

Smile Designing, also known as cosmetic dentistry, is a dental treatment that improves the appearance of teeth, gums, and overall smile.
It involves a combination of dental procedures to create a beautiful and confident smile. Laxmi Dental Care offers a range of smile designing treatments to enhance the appearance of a patient’s teeth and achieve their desired look.

Smile Analysis:

Before beginning the smile designing treatment, the dental professional at Laxmi Dental Care will conduct a thorough analysis of the patient’s smile.
This includes evaluating the shape, size, color, and position of the teeth, as well as the overall facial appearance.
This analysis helps to determine the best treatment options and achieve the desired outcome.

Laser Teeth Whitening:

Teeth whitening is a common treatment in smile designing. It involves using a bleaching agent to remove stains and discoloration from the teeth, resulting in a brighter and more vibrant smile.
Laxmi Dental Care offers in-office and take-home teeth whitening treatments to help patients achieve their desired level of whitening.

Laser Depigmentation:

You don’t smile often because your gums are too dark!! Dark gums not only make you conscious while speaking but also affect you mentally. You can now get rid of these dark gums with gum depigmentation, where the layer of dark gums is expelled and replaced by healthy pink gums.

Laxmi Dental Care practices laser gum depigmentation in economical packages to achieve the goal of achieving high-yield results with limited pain and effort.

What causes dark gums?

When you smile, your gums are visible. The color of the gums plays a vital role in the aesthetics of the smile. Normal gum color is coral pink. In some people, due to excessive deposition of melanin (the pigment responsible for the dark color), the gums acquire a darker color than usual. This is seen more in dark complexed individuals.

Lifestyle factors such as tobacco smoking, increased exposure to sunlight cause the gums to darken. Certain medical conditions such as endocrine disorders, idiopathic diseases (unknown causes) and certain conditions of the oral mucosa also cause gingival pigmentation. Certain medications and metals cause gum pigmentation.

  • Medicines
  • Amalgam tattoo

What are the different gum depigmentation techniques?

Many conventional techniques like chemical peeling, cryosurgery, electrosurgery, abrasion have been practiced since ages. Considering side effects and recurrence rates, there are few depigmentation techniques in practice today.

At Laxmi Dental Care, our dental specialists use laser gum depigmentation to allow our patients to experience a more relaxed and painless treatment. Our dedicated team of cosmetic specialists work carefully to avoid injury to adjacent soft and hard tissues such as the gums, teeth and underlying bone.

Surgical technique:

This is the surgical removal or excision of the surface epithelium using a scalpel blade. The exposed area heals by secondary intention, where it is gradually replaced by pink gums. This technique is simple and cost-effective with a lower recurrence rate but is hindered by postoperative pain and discomfort.

Laser gum depigmentation:

Laser gum depigmentation uses laser energy to exfoliate the gingival epithelium. This technique is minimally invasive, causes less tissue loss and minimizes post-operative complications such as pain, swelling and infection. Lasers cause less bleeding, which improves visibility at the surgical site. After clinical depigmentation, the probability of relapse when using lasers is very small.

Is gum depigmentation permanent?

Gum depigmentation is permanent. With the advent of lasers, the gum depigmentation procedure has brought good results. The chance of recurrence of pigmentation is almost zero with the laser depigmentation technique. Although the chance of relapse is less, factors such as smoking, sun exposure and genetic factors affect the duration of relapse.

Midline Diastema Closure:

A dental procedure that aims to close the gap between the front two teeth, known as the midline diastema. It involves various treatment options, including orthodontics, composite bonding, or porcelain veneers, tailored to the patient’s specific needs and desired outcome. Midline diastema closure can improve the aesthetics of the smile and restore dental harmony.

Veneers:

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are bonded to the front surface of the teeth.
They are designed to improve the appearance of teeth that are stained, chipped, or misaligned.
Veneers can also be used to close gaps between teeth and improve the shape and size of the teeth.

Invisalign:

Invisalign is a popular orthodontic treatment that uses clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth.
It is a more discreet and comfortable alternative to traditional braces and can be used to correct a variety of dental issues, including crowded or misaligned teeth.

Gum Contouring:

Gum contouring is a treatment that involves reshaping the gum line to improve the appearance of the teeth.
It is often used to correct a gummy smile, where too much gum tissue is visible when a person smiles. By removing excess gum tissue, the teeth appear longer and more proportionate, resulting in a more attractive smile.

WHAT ARE THE TECHNOLOGIES USED IN THE TREATMENT?

Digital Smile Design (DSD): This is a computer-assisted technology that allows our dentists to create a digital preview of the patient’s new smile.
It enables the patient to see how their smile will look after the treatment, even before it starts.
Intraoral scanners: These devices are used to take accurate digital impressions of the teeth and gums, which are used to create the digital model of the patient’s teeth for smile designing.
Dental lasers: Lasers are used for a variety of purposes in smile designing treatment, such as gum contouring, removing excess tissue, and reshaping the teeth.
3D printing: 3D printing technology is used to create dental models, surgical guides, and temporary restorations during the smile designing treatment.
Porcelain veneers: Porcelain veneers are thin, custom-made shells that are placed over the front surface of the teeth to improve their appearance.
We use the latest porcelain veneer technology to create natural-looking and long-lasting results.
Tooth-colored fillings: Tooth-colored fillings are used to replace old or decayed fillings with a material that matches the natural color of the teeth.
This helps to improve the appearance of the teeth and create a more natural-looking smile.

How long does smile designing last?

The duration of the smile designing treatment and its results depend on the type of treatment and the individual patient’s needs.
Some smile designing treatments, such as teeth whitening, can provide immediate results that can last for several months or even years, depending on the patient’s oral hygiene habits and lifestyle factors such as smoking, coffee or tea consumption, and eating habits.

Other smile designing treatments, such as porcelain veneers or clear aligners, may require multiple appointments to complete.
Once the treatment is complete, the results can last for many years with proper care and maintenance.
